Google Analytics has gone secure

Google announced on April 27, 2016 that it will now be securing all traffic communication of websites using Google Analytics, regardless of whether or not your site is using HTTPS or not.

The search engine giant stated, “Security and privacy are of utmost importance to our clients, our clients’ end users, and to Google, and secure transmission of our JavaScript libraries and measurement data is essential to that end.” Then went on to explain how they have implemented a secure transmission with Google Analytics. Using a HTTP Strict Transport Security, Google Analytics tells the browsers that support HTTP over SSL (HTTPS) to use that encryption protocol for all communication between end users, websites, and their servers.

There is no way to opt out of this security feature and no modifications need to be made to your website. Google Analytics has handled all the backend requirements to encrypt your traffic.
