Are you looking to get a head start on your holiday shopping this year? If so – Amazon’s renowned Amazon Prime Day is right around the corner! Running on October 13th and 14th, this is a 48-hour event in which Amazon offers unbeatable savings to its Prime members. If you are not currently a Prime member, it is not too late to sign up for a free-trial and see what all the buzz is about.
Gaining access to Amazon’s Prime Day is only one of the many advantages given to Amazon’s roughly 150 million Prime members. Prime members also reap the benefits of much quicker shipping on most items, Prime Video access, unlimited cloud storage for photos, limited music streaming, free eBooks/magazines via Amazon Prime Reading, and more.
With the way 2020 has gone so far, many small businesses have been dramatically impacted financially. Closures haven’t been uncommon and Amazon is extending its hand to try and help small businesses.
Amazon has pledged to do the following, “This year, Amazon is increasing its commitment to small business selling partners by designing Prime Day to support them with our biggest small business promotion yet. Starting today through October 12, Amazon will offer Prime members a $10 credit to use on Prime Day when members spend $10 on items sold by select small businesses in Amazon’s store.”
They add, “This Prime Day, and throughout the holiday season, Amazon will spend more than $100 million on new promotional activities to help small businesses around the world increase their sales and reach new customers. This has been a challenging year for many small businesses, and selling in Amazon’s stores has enabled hundreds of thousands of smaller companies to sustain and even grow their sales despite the COVID-19 crisis.”
Amazon Prime Day will certainly be huge this year with predictions indicating it will be the biggest Prime day yet. While this will undoubtedly drive more traffic to Amazon’s website, it will also increase ecommerce sales overall between October 13-14th.
This doesn’t come without any concern. Over the last 6 months users have relied heavily on Amazon for a majority of their shopping needs, when avoiding shopping in public places. This resulted negatively in their two-day delivery promise for Prime members. To the point where certain consumer goods had been arriving at your doorstep quicker if you ordered directly from the retailer’s ecommerce site, instead of Amazon.
Because of this, brands are realizing now that direct to consumer offers some advantages and should be part of a brand’s overall digital strategy. Integrating this direct to consumer approach, as well as selling on big channels like Amazon, allows your users to shop your brand on the most convenient site for them.
